“The History of Abon Becr Sadika” was published in Volume II (pp. 126-30) of R. R. Madden's, "A Twelvemonths Residence in the West Indies, During the Transition from Slavery to Apprenticeship: with Incidental Notices of the State of Society, Prospects, and Natural Resources of Jamaica and other Islands. In Two Volumes." (1835) Madden notes Sadika's account was first written down in Arabic and, then, translated by Sadika into English to Madden. The letter is dated as September 20, 1834.
